DEFENDER Kelvin Langmead says Kidderminster Harriers' players cannot let the squad changes become an excuse for poor form.

The arrival of Dave Hockaday as head coach three weeks ago has sparked a massive turnaround in the playing staff.

In the last month seniors players such as Joe Clarke, Aman Verma and Reece Styche have joined Brackley, Torquay United and Macclesfield on-loan, while Tahvon Campbell and Andre Wright returned to parent club West Bromwich Albion.

Matthew Barnes-Homer, Dino Fazlic, Kyle Howkins have also came on board.

But Langmead, who is on a season long loan from Ebbsfleet, says the squad can't let the ins and outs affect them.

He said: "I have been a footballer for a long time so it's part of the game.

"A manager leaves a club and it's inevitable that players leave and others come in.

"I am certainly not going to use what's happening as an excuse, all you can do is get your head down and work hard."

The atmosphere around Aggborough has certainly improved after Harriers recorded their first win of the season by defeating Woking 1-0 on Saturday.

The win lifted the Reds off the foot of the Vanarama National League but Langmead has stressed there is still much work to do.

Kidderminster's next league game is at Chester on Tuesday night (7.45pm ko).

He added: "The win was huge and it came as a great relief everyone.

"We owed ourselves and everyone at the club and the fans that victory.

"We can't get carried away though because it's just one win in 20 games and if we repeated that run we'd obviously be in trouble "We must make sure we build on the win and go to Chester and get a result."
