Harriers manager Mark Yates felt captain Chris McPhee was unfortunate to be sent off late in Saturday's FA Cup fourth qualifying round stalemate against Fleetwood.

McPhee was shown a straight red card by referee John Farries in time added on for a late challenge on winger Jamie McGuire.

It means the 27-year-old will miss Tuesday's replay at the Highbury Stadium (7.45pm kick-off) as part of his three-match ban.

Yates was furious as the official had failed to punish Sean Clancy for a foul on David McDermott in the first half and ignored a strong penalty claim by substitute Kyle Hadley.

"I thought it was a really poor decision, everybody does," commented the Harrier boss on McPhee's dismissal.

"The assessors do and I hope the referee will have a look at it. I thought it was yellow card but there was one right in front of us which was exactly the same.

"He's gone in studs high, if he's going to do one, then he's got to do both.

"We're not getting any breaks or decisions go our way. I think we should have also had a penalty as well. Kyle's beat his man and gone down but the referee didn't give it."

However, Harriers were well below-par against the Blue Square North side and needed poor finishing by Fleetwood and several fine saves from Dean Coleman to keep them in the game.

Yates said: "I'm very disappointed with our performance but the lads haven't done that for a little while," commented the manager.

"We've got to give credit to Fleetwood, they matched us up and caused us problems.

"I thought we got to grips with them in the second half. They had a few chances but we didn't do enough and take responsibility.

"We're still in the draw and far from out of it. They're a good side with some quality players and when we don't play as we can do then that makes it even harder.

"We'll have a look at how we approach Tuesday night's game because it's still all to play for."
