Serrell: We've got a chance in FA Cup
9:35pm Sunday 8th December 2013 in News
CHAIRMAN Mark Serrell believes Harriers can cause another FA Cup upset.
The Carpetmen will take on League One promotion-chasers Peterborough United in the third round on the weekend of January 4 and 5.
While Darren Ferguson's side are fifth in the third tier of English club football, Steve Burr's Skrill Premier pacesetters will fancy their chances at fortress Aggborough, after knocking out League Two outfit Newport County after yesterday's fantastic 4-2 victory in round two.
Harriers earned £27,000 in prize money and victory over The Posh would pocket them an extra £67,000 from the FA.
They boast a superb record at their Hoo Road home, losing just to Hereford, Luton and Wrexham in the league this year.
An upbeat Serrell said: "We were all hoping to get Liverpool, Manchester United or Arsenal but we've been drawn at home against a good side and we've got a chance of getting through.
"Steve and the team have been superb at home and confidence is high so we would back ourselves to play well.
"We'll get another good crowd and the fans were superb against Newport."
Coincidentally, Posh boss Darren Ferguson has been seen at Aggborough as United have been heavily linked with exciting young striker Joe Lolley.
Serrell added: "There is a certain irony that we've got Peterborough considering the rumours circulating about several of our players.
"We have an excellent young team that has attracted a lot of interest but we can confirm we have had no official communication with any clubs about our players."
Serrell is also keeping his fingers crossed the cup clash will be shown live on ITV, which would generate another huge cash injection for the club.
