HONEST Kidderminster Harriers manager Steve Burr admitted he was left cold by his side’s opening fixtures this season.

He insisted his side’s opening clash with Gateshead on August 10th had little impact with him.

“Obviously every team wants to get off to a good start and we’re no different. But it’s not how you start the season, but where you finish that really matters,” Burr said.

“I know some people get quite excited when the fixtures come out but it has little impression on me. Everybody’s expectations are as high as everyone else.

“We report back for pre-season training this week and we’ll be starting the same as I’ve done for the past 10 years.

“The only difference this time is the fact we’ve got to play Walsall earlier than expected. “We face them next Saturday, but that’s because they start their season earlier on August 3.

“I think we started the season against Gateshead two years ago and lost — that’s about the only thing I can say about it.

“Yes, it’s important to hit the ground running and that’s what we intend to do.

“Other than that, everyone’s determined to do well this season.”

Burr said that he has got up to six trialists coming in for pre-season training.

“They’ll be a chance for at least one of them,” he said. “In fact I’ve still got room for a couple of players.

“I’ve got two Australian lads coming in that have been recommended to me and another from Columbia.

“I don’t want to mention their names at the moment, because if they’re any good, then other people will start showing an interest in them.

“Tyrone Williams, who is with our academy, will be training with first team. I’ve been impressed with him.”
