STOURPORT Ladies were unable to build on the previous week’s success when they travelled to Swansea last weekend only to lose 3-2 in the Investec Western National League.

The Wyre Forest outfit were in a positive mood and determined to give a better showing than when they lost 3-0 against the same opponents in the first game of the season.

It was Swansea who kept possession in the first few minutes, but it was Stourport who broke and won the game’s first short corner.

However, they were unable to convert and the hosts Swansea started to get a grip on the game before breaking the deadlock from a set piece.

Swansea started the second half in a different gear and Stourport were not able to stop a further two goals going in as they fell 3-0 down.

But Stourport responded and started to create chances of their own and saw Claire Pearson bag a brace.

The seconds defeated Boots 1-0 in the Midland Division Two.

In a hard fought match, the home side’s goal eventually came from a short corner.

Meanwhile. in the Worcestershire Division One, Stourport Ladies thirds got the better of Harborne 6-1.

In an excellent team performance the ladies were 2-0 up at the half-time break after some outstanding build-up play and good performances from the youngsters.

Hannah and Eleanor Johnson, Georgie Worrallo, Katie Walker all scored, while Emma Pollcok bagged a brace.

The fifths won a thrilling encounter against Old Hales to win 3-2.

They had been trailing 2-0 before a stirring fight back.

Rosie Connolly and Catherine Neilson struck to ensure Stourport went into the break on level terms.

Neilson then got the better of the Old Hales keeper in an one-on-one encounter to fire them ahead.

Stouport had to weather late pressure to seal the win.
