THERE was a host of sailing action at Trimpley SC, who hosted the 2015 Midlands Grand Prix.

Nineteen Laser crews battled it out during, on the whole, pleasant but occasionally gusty conditions.

The well-disciplined fleet got away without a hitch from all starts.

Race one saw close racing throughout with place changes right up to the finish line. By the finish of the race it was John Ling followed closely by Rob Lennox, Neil Crosby, Andy Allan, Paul Powell and James Allan.

The second race saw no retirements, even closer racing and plenty of position changes during the race.

The top positions were dominated by Ling and Lennox, while Allan took third and Crosby fourth.

Powell and James Allan repeated their fifth and sixth positions.

While Ling was the overall winner the rest of the final positions were set to be decided in the third race.

A change of course proved to be testing and after a titanic battle, Allan edged out Crosby for victory in race and finish second overall, followed by Lennox in third.

Crosby was fourth in the standings, with Powell fifth.
