TEENAGER Jamie Crump led the way for Wyre Forest CRC in the first round of the Woolly Mamil series of circuit races.
With racing delayed for 30 minutes to allow the over night frost to clear from the track, riders knew they were in for a cold ride at the event, which was promoted by Mamil Cycling and supported by Worcester Cycle Centre at Stourport Sports Club.
Junior Crump, who is now a category A rider in the under-16s age group, stayed near the front throughout his race.
But with two riders making a break he was left to fight for the final podium position and eventually lost out in the uphill sprint finish to finish seventh from a field of 29 competitors.
Aimee Lane took the win in her first race in the higher under-14s girls age group after racing last year in the under-12s category.
Chris Crump, in only his third competitive race as a senior, placed 14th from 40 riders in the fourth category race.
The next race in the series will be on Saturday, at 11am.
