ABBIE Rowley led the way for Wyre Forest Swimming Club at the West Midland Swimming Youth Championships.

Rowley brought home silver in the 15-year-old 50 metres freestyle, missing out on gold by just half a second.

She also clinched bronze in the 50m butterfly.

Over the weekend, swimmers who obtained the qualifying times were in action at Coventry pool.

Wyre Forest had six qualifiers for the Youth Championships – Rowley, Rosie Lane, Helena Shackleton, Harvey Thompson, John McMahon and Jack Rowley. All six of them fought through the heats and qualified for a regional final in their respective age groups.

Lane finished seventh in the 50m freestyle and took eighth in the 50m backstroke final.

Shackleton finished sixth in the 50m backstroke final, while Thompson finished eighth in the 50m freestyle final.

McMahon end in seventh spot in the 50m butterfly final and Jack Rowley came seventh in the 100m backstroke final.
