THE Worcestershire Open Pro-Am tournament returned for its second year to Cleobury Mortimer GC, which saw Evesham’s Dan Clee emerge triumphant.

This huge event that is seen by many as the biggest event within the county’s golf calendar.

It was generously sponsored by businessman and Cleobury member Andy Smith of Kidderminster Self Storage. A total of 21 professionals from around the county and further afield brought teams to battle it out. The scoring was a true testament of how much the course has matured over the years with just one professional under par.

David Finch, Adam Whiting, Chris Mole, Tom Warbrick and Matt Jones all shared third place with a one over par 35 points.

Ryan Corbett of the Worcestershire finish level on 36 points, which was enough to give him second place outright.

But the day belonged to Clee, who plays for Evesham GC and who put on a faultless display on his way to a three under par 39 points.

Despite making just one point on the first hole Matt Jones of Moor Park with his team of Cleobury members won the team event on 81 points on back count from the talented Bransford lads.

Cleobury’s director of golf Dave Pain said: “Firstly I would like to thank all of the professionals from the county for supporting the event we host here at Cleobury.

“Secondly, thank you to Andy Smith for his sponsorship, which allows us to put on such a significant prize pot for the professionals.

Final standings - Professionals: 1 Daniel Clee – 39 points; 2 Ryan Corbett – 36 points; 3 Matt Jones, Tom Warbrick, Chris Mole, Adam Whiting, David Finish – 35 points.
