MOTOR racing driver Nathan Freke finished second in his class together with co-driver Anna Walewska following the latest round of the 2016 British GT Championship which took place at Silverstone.

The three-hour event is the longest race of the series and attracted a total of 51 cars.

Driving for Century Motorsport, the race had to start under the direction of the safety car for the first two laps as a result of early morning rain. Walewska opened for the first 35 minutes before handing over to Freke, but then the safety car came out again.

Walewska had a second stint in the car which took them up to the two hour mark before a fired up Freke took over for the final hour of the race. By lap 58, Freke had climbed into third spot in the GT4 and then took over second place two laps later.

Freke controlled his position from that point to secure their second official podium finish of the season and Century Motorsport team boss Les Jones said: “Silverstone is always the hardest event on the calendar, not only because it’s the longest race, but it attracts extra entries as well. The weather has been a big factor, but our race pace was where we really came into our own and the strategy really worked out.”

The next round of the series takes place at Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium on July 8 and 9.
