Tony’s outstanding contribution and commitment to Kidderminster Tennis Club and the sport in general was highlighted this year when he was awarded the Sports Partnership Herefordshire & Worcestershire Coach of the Year award earlier this year.

The excellent work Tony does for player development was also recognised by the Lawn Tennis Association at their National Awards where he was runner-up for the Children’s Coach of the Year award.

The development of young tennis players is clearly what drives Tony to put in the hours on the court, to aid the progression of the young people he coaches.

Alongside his normal 40 hour working week, Tony dedicates his evenings and weekends to coaching for up to 16 hours per week.

You will often find him every Saturday from the morning through to the evening delivering coaching sessions to tennis players of all abilities.

Due to Tony’s tenure as coach at Kidderminster Tennis Club, they now boast more members than they have ever had previously.

Before Tony became the coach at the club the junior section had very few members, but now averages up to 30 plus members coming to weekly sessions.

With a coach like Tony at the helm who has a passion for the sport and an ability to inspire others to play tennis, Kidderminster Tennis Club stands in good stead for the future development of itself as a club and its individual players. Thanks to Tony, the future of tennis in Kidderminster and the Wyre Forest is in very good hands.
