Causeway United 0, Stourport Swifts 3

AFTER six games on the road without a league win, Swifts finally broke their duck with a fine victory at high-fliers Causeway United.

But they had to wait until a late double from leading scorer Jon Griffin finally saw off the home side’s challenge.

There had been little to choose between the sides for much of the first half but Stourport struck their opener five minutes before the interval. Causeway lost possession and the ball was worked to Calvin Dinsley who sent a fine dipping shot over the keeper from just outside the area.

The Black Country outfit had plenty of the play in the second half but struggled to find a way through a solid Swifts defence.

It was left to the visitors to complete the scoring with Griffin’s late double.

On 83 minutes he reacted first to net via the underside of the crossbar after Causeway had failed to clear a corner.

And it was Griffin who made it 3-0 four minutes from time, scoring on the break as he cut in off the flank to fire home.
