ROD Brown couldn’t believe his eyes after watching his Stourport Swifts side overwhelm arch rivals Westfields 5-0 in the Midland Alliance League Cup this week.

Swifts boss Brown had struggled to raise a side but his available players rose to the occasion and despatched the Hereford side in style.

Brown revealed: “I was already missing a number of key players like Michael Briscoe and skipper Gary Walker.

“By the end, I’d only got 10 players, so I had to take a couple of lads out of the youth team with me.”

The late arriving Chris Morrison opened the scoring, with Aaron Drake and John Griffin also on target together with two goals.

Swifts now face Quorn in a two-legged semi-final.

On Saturday Swifts host Wulfrunians and then entertain Highgate on Tuesday.
