WORCESTER Warriors could not make it three wins in a row as they lost 42-14 at Leicester Tigers in the Premiership Under 18 Academy League.

On Loughborough University’s artificial pitch, Tigers scored three tries in each half to secure the win.

Noah Heward and Oli Thorneywork hit back either side of the break for Warriors.

In the rain, Leicester half-backs Will Yarnell and Sam Costelow kept Warriors pinned back and chasing.

Xander Purcell, Zack Godfrey and Luke Phoenix scored tries with Costelow's three conversions putting the hosts 21-0 ahead.

While Worcester lacked some defensive organisation, they had not played badly and refused to lie down.

Their carriers began to make yards and they opted for a scrum from a penalty, working the ball to the left where full-back Heward burst through to score with Jake Leonard converting.

Thorneywork crossed to make it 21-14 early in the second half after Warriors worked good field position before quick handling from Tom Furnival sent the back rower through untouched.

But George Martin, Henri Lavin and Jonny Law added further Tigers tries with Costelow converting.

Warriors hope to bounce back on Sunday, February 4, at Manchester Metropolitan University against Sale Sharks (2pm).
