GIRL Guide groups in Kidderminster are appealing for new members and adult volunteers following the launch of the Guide Association’s new look.

The Kidderminster division has about 850 members who meet at 40-50 church and village halls across Wyre Forest.

Ruth Pawsey, spokeswoman for Girlguiding Kidderminster, said: “We’re trying to make people aware we’ve got spaces for children and we’re always looking for adult volunteers. The fresh look of the Guides shows that it’s not all about knots. It’s just about giving girls a sense of belonging.”

The charity has updated its logo to include a speech bubble shape, and tagline, which has been changed to We Discover We Grow.

Fundraising and marketing manager Donna Holland said: “The speech bubble shape came about because they wanted the visual identity of Girlguiding to say loud and clear that girls in guiding have a voice.

“Research has shown that not everyone knows Girlguiding or Brownies or Rainbows is a charity or that its mission is to give girls their own space in which to grow and explore.”

The new look was launched last Friday which was also Thinking Day for Guides, Rainbows and Brownies.
