The first meeting of 2014 was well attended with president Patsy Anderson welcoming visitors and prospective members. Patsy announced that the village hall has been booked for June 4, 2015, the day of the National Centenary Annual General Meeting at the Albert Hall. Through the newly installed media system the village hall will be linked directly to the Albert Hall in London for members to participate in this important meeting.

Patsy reminded members of the Annual New Year Lunch to be held at The Waggon Wheel, Grimley on January 20. A small gift was required from each member for the lucky dip. On February 19 Patsy is holding a coffee morning at her home. A visit to Hardwick Hall has been suggested for the 2014 summer outing.

Patsy also reported that plans were being made for the WI’s participation in the Village Hall Tenth Anniversary activities in June and for a visit to the Malvern Theatre in April.

Diana Hackett read the correspondence, including a letter from the village hall trustees thanking the WI for its donation to the new media system. Anne Freeston gave details of various Federation activities including the get together on February 8 at WI House. The main event of the evening was Call my Bluff in which a panel of three pitted their wits against members. The competition for the evening, the number of four letter words in Robert Robinson, was won by Cherry Greaves, with Bernie Downing second and Diana Hackett third. The next meeting will be on February 10, at 7.30pm, at Areley Kings Village Hall when Jill Salmons will speak on Chinese culture.
