Chairman Derek Walker welcomed everyone at the meeting on February 19 but informed us on a very sad note that we had lost two of our members recently namely Jean Jones and Mark Eeles who will be sadly missed. The committee have been pleased with the renewed subscriptions coming in for the 2014 programme and show schedules.

Cha irmanca Veronica Herridge welcomed everyone on February 5. Apologies given for Sheila Hewitt, Jill Chew, Chris Booton, Julie Jeacock and Marina Pugh. Veronica said congratulations were in order for Marjorie Whiting, who has been appointed as vice chairman of the county. She is also current chairman of the perform - ing arts. There was full report in the Worcestershire WI News Magazine for February 2014. There was a photograph in the magazine on page 6 showing Astley members dressed for their fashion show when £100 was raised in aid of a local charity.

The AGM was at Astley and Dunley Village Hall on January 15.Vic Powell chaired the meeting and thanked everyone for attending. The election of officers took place for 2014. Derek Walker was proposed and seconded as chairman and everyone voted unanimously that he return to that post which he finds enjoya - ble and rewarding. He said that he was pleased that old Committee members of 2013 were willing to stand again en bloc.

Running the business with his wife Kristina, they grow  herbaceous  perennials, ferns and frasses at the nursery and Robin lectures as well as going to specialist plant sales, Pershore College  and Spetchley Park Gardens.

The society will be grateful for raffle donations for the Autumn Show and harvest supper.
