Visiting WI advisor, Sue White, oversaw the election of Veronica Herridge as the new president at the AGM.

Retiring president Margaret Healing thanked the women on the committee for their hard work and support.

Following the presentation and adoption of the financial statement and the annual report, the resolution, which this year concerns the decline of our high streets and town centres, was discussed and agreed.

Before starting the AGM, reports were given by Veronica Herridge and Irene Hoare on the Spring Council Meeting where the guest speaker was BBC Midlands Today presenter Mary Rhodes and the Forest Group meeting respectively.

The Dorothy Ellis Cup Competition for a flower arrangement in an egg cup was won by Gwen Freeman.

Members are looking forward to the trip to Abberley Hall in July and the table top sale on Saturday, June 8 from 2pm to 5pm at Astley Village Hall. Tables are still available by ringing 01299 879527.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 5 when Mark Wilkins will be talking about the County Air Ambulance.
