HARRIERS defender Tom Shaw believes the squad will deal with the club's points deduction with success on the pitch, starting with tomorrow night's home clash against Kettering.

The Aggborough outfit are still mulling over a decision to appeal their deduction and a £5,000 suspended fine after they were punished for a breach of the Football Conference's financial report regulations last week.

But Shaw believes the squad can start clawing back the lost points.

He said: "It's a big chance for us to get a win and push on.

"We've come away from home and are happy but Tuesday is a big opportunity to get three of those points back.

"We've not done too much talking about it, we've got to do our talking on the pitch.

"It's happened and we've got to deal with it."

Striker Nick Wright is a doubt for Harriers' Blue Square Bet Premier home clash against Marcus Law's strugglers after he came off with a slight hamstring injury in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Gateshead.

Lee Vaughan could feature again after missing an end-to-end North East tussle with the flu, which saw the versatile Shaw deputise at right-back.

Shaw was given a tough time by Heed debutant Joan Simun Edmundsson, with the on-loan Newcastle man and Faroe Islands international producing a bright display.

Harriers had came from behind to lead 2-1 thanks to goals for Matty Blair and Wright, but spurned opportunities to grab a third as Gateshead grabbed leveller and pushed for a winner in the game's closing stages.

"There were two or three chances that we've missed and have been punished, if we had put those away it was game over," commented Shaw.

"But Gateshead pushed on in the last 20 minutes and got their reward.

"It's a tough place to come, the pitch is open to the elements. I've been here on several ocassions over the last few years and anybody who comes away with a result being happy."

Harriers' next opponents have been shorn of big name quartet in recent weeks, with Andre Boucaud (York), Greg Taylor (Darlington), James Dance (Crawley) and John Dempster (Crawley) signing for Conference Premier rivals in the space of a week.

Shuttle Online will have live match updates from Tuesday's Conference tussle (7.45pm kick-off).
