The society’s last talk of 2009 was an entertaining dissertation by Richard Pugh- Cook (in place of Mervyn Thompson) on the history of carpet making in Kidderminster from its first essay into the craft in 1735 through the boom years of the 19th and 20th centuries and its decline in the 1970s as a result largely of over production and foreign competition.
